The Wollongong Running Festival has announced a transition to Race Hub Australia as the new event owner and delivery partner from February 2026.
The Wollongong Running Festival will enter an exciting new chapter in 2026, with Race Hub Australia announced as the new event owner and delivery partner, effective 1 February 2026.
Race Hub Australia will assume full responsibility for the planning and delivery of the 2026 Wollongong Running Festival, continuing the event’s proud tradition while building on its strong community foundations.
Founded in 2009 as the Bulli Burn and rebranded as the Wollongong Running Festival in 2021, the event has grown to become Wollongong’s largest running event, held annually on the first Sunday of June. The festival is widely recognised for celebrating the freedom of running and Wollongong’s active coastal culture, attracting runners of all abilities from across the region and beyond.
Participants enjoy a vibrant race precinct, cheer squads, live music and a spectacular course that weaves together trail and coastal paths with stunning ocean views. The event is both family-friendly and professionally delivered, with accurately measured and timed courses that cater to everyone from fun runners through to serious competitors.
Race Hub Australia brings a strong alignment with these values. The organisation specialises in inclusive, community-focused running events designed to remove the intimidation factor often associated with race day. Its approach focuses on creating a relaxed, supportive and welcoming environment — from first timers and families to experienced athletes.
“The Wollongong Running Festival has always been about participation, community and showcasing the city’s incredible coastline,” Christopher Murphy said. “Race Hub Australia is well placed to carry that vision forward and continue growing the event in a way that feels welcoming and authentic.”
Race Hub Australia has confirmed its commitment to maintaining the spirit, accessibility, and professionalism that participants, partners, and the Wollongong community have come to expect.
“We’re proud to take on the stewardship of such a well-loved event,” a Jack Green, Race Hub Australia Founder & Director said. “Our focus will be on preserving what makes the Wollongong Running Festival special, while ensuring the experience remains inclusive, enjoyable and confidently delivered for all runners.”
Further details about the 2026 Wollongong Running Festival, including event formats, registrations, and key dates, will be released in due course.
